Use your e-mailbox with Outlook, Thunderbird or any mail client on a PC, PDA, phone or any other compatible platform. e-nautia allows you to use the iMap, POP and SMTP ports. Access to these ports is essential for this kind of program.
Download a mail client
For your PC, you will find what is necessary in the media center. For mobile platforms, you can use the included program.
Parameters for mail software
In your software, add an account with the settings below.
Username: your mail address
Password: that of your e-pass
iMap/POP3/SMTP servers: e-nautia.com
iMap/POP3/SMTP ports: 143, 110 and 25 respectively
You can enable communication encryption by TLS only.
Send and receive
The SMTP server is the server allowing you to send e-mails.
The iMap and POP3 servers are the servers allowing you to receive your e-mails in two different ways. By configuring your mail client, you will need to choose one of them, but not both.
The POP3 enables you to retrieve a copy of your e-mails in the mail client while deleting or not them on the server. You deal with your e-mails partly offline and save data exchange with the serveur. This protocol is interesting if you have a limited connection or if you do not want to keep your e-mails on the server. Furthermore, the POP3 retrieves your e-mails only from the inbox folder. You should therefore occasionally check your spam folder in the webmail or disable your filters (including the antispam) and use that or those of your mail client instead.
The iMap deals directly with the server. Any operation will be reflected immediately if you are online, either the next connection if you are offline. Inbox beyond, for your convenience, if you software allows, you can use the same folders (drafs, sent, trash…) as the webmail.
To use the SMTP (which allows the e-mail sending), ensure you of three things:
1/ The SMTP does not require an authentification (because it identifies you by the IP used to the receipt).
2/ In the additional parameters of your software, the connexion to the SMTP must be preceded by a connexion to the POP3.
3/ Your Internet service provider or firewall should not block SMTP port. Else, look for the possibility to free it or use this of your provider instead of e-nautia's (often in the form smtp.myprovider.ext).
Security
As indicated in the terms of use, sending mass including spamming is prohibited. e-nautia has its own robots that can detect a mass mailing. These robots are able to automatically limit the number of allowed sendings in case of suspicion, or block access to your e-mails partially or totally. The e-nautia mailboxes are also protected against "brute force" attacks. Thus, if you attempt to repeatedly connect with wrong parameters, your IP may be blocked. If you cannot connect or if you are unsure, do not hesitate contacting support.
