I'm not much of a gambler but my brother had a gambling addiction. He had a system for playing blackjack that was pretty incredible (it wasn't counting cards). The casinos in Vegas would fly him from Hawaii and comp everything. He would usually go with $500, spend a couple of weeks, and couldn't leave until he was broke. In that time he would usually play several million dollars. He would go to the blackjack tables and build his $500 into several thousand then take that and play slots. When he got low he'd go back to the blackjack tables. He would usually have six slot machines going at a time. Three on one side of the isle and three on the other. He was quite a spectacle dancing between machines and doing his little voodoo hand thing at every machine. He was very animated and generous to all the staff. Everyone that worked at the casino was his friend by the end of the first weekend. I once saw him hand a janitor with a mop bucket a hundred dollar bill and said, hey the floors look great. And he was pretty lucky with the slots. I was with him for Y2K and in that one weekend he hit three royal flushes on video poker. The thing was that the tables didn't keep track but the slots did because he used his casino card. In that Y2K trip I think the total when he received his tax papers showed winnings of a little over 3 million! And it all started with $500. At one point they were handing him a couple of stacks of 20’s and I told him he should give me a stack. He asked why and I said you always go home broke so give me a stack and I'll send it to you when you get home. He said he'd give me all the stacks I wanted but I had to play everything before I left. A true gambling addict, he wouldn't even let me keep some for him, I had to play it all. When he died his estate was worth less than $4000. He was an awesome guy!
